Getting Started
Welcome to Laxis! This guide walks you through the Laxis apps and the few settings that make the biggest difference, so you can record your first meeting (or dictate your first message) in minutes.
1. What is Laxis?
Laxis is an AI note taker and dictation app. It writes your meeting notes while you talk, and types for you in any app when you speak. For sales teams, Laxis also offers AI prospect research and an AI SDR.
ποΈAI Meeting Assistant
Records online and in-person meetings, transcribes them live in 60 languages, writes AI notes as you talk, and turns every meeting into a report, action items, and answers you can ask about later.
β¨οΈVoice Keyboard
Press a shortcut (on Mac or Windows) or tap the mic on the Laxis keyboard (on iPhone or Android), speak, and polished text appears wherever you're typing. It can also translate and write for you.
πSales Agent
AI Prospect Research finds verified B2B contacts and company insights. AI SDR runs personalized outreach and answers inbound leads. Both live in the Laxis web app under Sales Agent.
One Laxis account works everywhere, and one subscription covers both the Meeting Assistant and the Voice Keyboard. See Billing & Plans.
2. Choose your apps
π»Desktop App (recommended)
For Mac and Windows. Records Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and any other call without a bot, by capturing your microphone and computer audio. Includes floating captions, meeting reminders, and the Voice Keyboard. Download from laxis.com/download, the Mac App Store, or the Microsoft Store.
π±Mobile App
For iPhone and Android. Record in-person meetings, read notes on the go, and use the Laxis keyboard to dictate in any app. Download from the App Store or Google Play.
πWeb App
At app.laxis.com. Record from your browser, invite the Laxis meeting bot, manage your workspace, integrations, and billing, and use Sales Agent (Prospect Research and AI SDR).
πChrome Extension
Live transcript, notes, and AI chat inside Google Meet, and Zoom and Teams in the browser β no bot joins your call. Search for "Laxis" in the Chrome Web Store.
Which desktop download should I pick?
The version from laxis.com/download and the Microsoft Store version include the Voice Keyboard. The Mac App Store version doesn't include the Voice Keyboard, so choose the laxis.com download on a Mac if you want to dictate in other apps.
3. Sign in
Open any Laxis app and choose Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft, or Continue with Apple. Signing in with Google or Microsoft makes connecting your calendar one click.
You can also use Continue with email. When you sign up with email, Laxis sends you an activation link. Click it to activate your account.
Every new account starts with 14 days of Premium
No credit card needed. When the trial ends, you move to the free Basic plan and keep all your notes. If a friend invited you, you get 30 days. See Free trials.
4. First-run setup
The first time you open Laxis, a short setup guides you through the essentials. Each app does it a little differently:
- Desktop: connect your calendar β allow microphone and system audio (Mac) β join or create your team's workspace. Then play the demo meeting to watch Laxis take notes on a real recording.
- iPhone and Android: choose the language you speak in meetings β record a short first note β connect your calendar and turn on reminders β try and set up the Voice Keyboard β join or create a workspace.
- Web: connect your calendar and choose which meetings the bot records β join or create a workspace.
You can skip most steps and come back to them later in Settings.
5. Key settings (highly recommended)
Connect your calendar
Connect Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar (one at a time). Laxis then shows your upcoming meetings, reminds you before they start, and can send the Laxis meeting bot to record them.
- Desktop: Settings β Integration.
- Web: Settings β Integrations.
- iPhone and Android: Settings β Integration β Connect Calendars.
See Integrations for auto-join options.
Allow microphone and system audio (desktop)
- Mac: Laxis needs Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording permission. The system audio permission is how macOS lets Laxis hear the other people on your call. Laxis doesn't record your screen during meetings; it only captures a screenshot when you ask it to. After you turn on Screen & System Audio Recording, quit and reopen Laxis so macOS applies it.
- Windows: no extra permissions are needed.
You can check both at any time in Settings β General β Permissions on the Mac app.
Add your Dictionary words
Add names, product terms, and jargon under Settings β Dictionary (desktop), Settings β Language β Dictionary (web, arriving with the next web app update), or Settings β General β Dictionary (mobile). Laxis uses them to transcribe your meetings and dictation more accurately. Your Dictionary syncs across all your devices.
Set up the Voice Keyboard
Follow the setup in the Voice Keyboard section of the desktop sidebar, or the Keyboard tab on your phone. See Voice Keyboard.
Choose your interface language
Laxis is available in English, δΈζ, FranΓ§ais, EspaΓ±ol, ζ₯ζ¬θͺ, Deutsch, PortuguΓͺs, νκ΅μ΄, and Italiano (plus ηΉι«δΈζ on web, mobile, and the Chrome extension). Change it in Settings β Language (desktop and web) or Settings β General β Interface Language (mobile). This doesn't change the language Laxis listens for in meetings.
6. Record your first meeting
Start recording
On desktop, click New Note on the Meetings page. On your phone, tap the red mic button. On the web, click New Recording.
Talk, and take notes if you like
The live transcript appears in the Transcript panel. Laxis writes AI notes into your note every few minutes, next to anything you type.
Stop
Click Stop. Laxis polishes your notes, writes the Report, and pulls out Tasks (action items).
